Say YES to the dress

Occasion dressing has never been bigger news, with celebrities and social media stars putting maximum effort into creating statement looks that will help them stand out from the crowd.

Here in the shop we’ve noticed eyebrows are raised and hems have dropped as the latest looks are all about attention grabbing colours and prints in cute but classy silhouettes.

At Moo Boutique Yorkshire we like our investment pieces to go the extra mile and I’ve worked hard to put together a summer collection that I hope brings a little more flexibility to occasion dressing.

The rails are bulging with stunning looks from, amongst others, premium brand Silvian Heach and fresh new label Traffic People. But this year my focus has been on finding pieces that can be dressed up or down, taken from day to night and can easily vamp up for that bigger occasion, be it wedding, races or special holiday.

Here is just a small selection of key pieces that pack a punch in more ways than one.

Colour clashing is a huge trend for Spring/Summer 19 and surprisingly easy to pull off. This anything goes attitude means that this dress works just as well with a big hat and heels as it does with slip ons and a top knot. Think about switching up the belt for a more relaxed look, add some boho accessories and that dress that made you the WOW of the wedding guests can also see you sipping cocktails at sunset.

Overlays are never far from our summer radar, but this beautiful Silvian Heach number has a sassy edge. Black lace detailing means it’s easy to rock up this look from prim and proper to party animal. Throw on your favourite denim jacket and a pair of ankle boots and you’ve got date night down!

No summer wardrobe is complete without a maxi dress and they are called it for a reason. Max out on style but also on cost per wear as I guarantee that once you’ve found your dream maxi it will never be off your back! Flip flops and floppy hat … strappy sandals and cute clutch… biker jacket and pumps… It’s your summer essential and this timeless print from Traffic People will work right through ’til the nights draw in again (but let’s not think about that just yet, deal?)

4) https://www.mooboutiqueyorkshire.co.uk/collections/jumpsuits/products/french-connection-bessie-sleveless-crepe-jumpsuit

Ok so it’s not a dress exactly, but we’re all over the jumpsuit vibe and I can’t see that situation changing anytime soon! Why? Because it’s one of the most versatile items in the summer wardrobe and basically… you’re not allowed on holiday without one!

This French Connection baby comes in a perfect shade for transitional dressing, it’s a darker rustier red that will not only show off your tan, but works well with bright colour pops for day and a bit of sparkle at night. Going to the races but ending the night on the town? This is our odds on favourite!

5) https://www.mooboutiqueyorkshire.co.uk/collections/dresses/products/anonyme-paola-dress

I want my customers to turn heads for all the right reasons and that’s why I couldn’t resist this stunning Paola dress by Anonyme. It’s silhouette skimming shape ensures it flatters every frame and since the graphic print does all the talking, just a swipe of lippy and you’re good to go. Weddings, Christenings, garden parties, hen do’s … I can’t think of an occasion this dress wouldn’t be appropriate for. And once again that longer length means it doesn’t get cast to the back of the wardrobe the second the temperature drops.

If you like to get your legs out there are plenty of shorter styles to choose from in store too. Pop in in and browse the rails for inspiration, we’ll be happy to chat to you about your special occasion and help you find the perfect outfit. Excuse us if we get a little over excited though, these colours and prints are doing strange things to our psyche… Did someone say macarena?
